There was a time I mistook silence for peace, and chaos for passion. I let people stay too long, ignored red flags, and called it grace. But discernment taught me the difference between being open-hearted and being unguarded.
Discernment is not judgment. It’s wisdom in motion. It’s the ability to pause, to pray, to perceive. It’s the spiritual muscle that grows stronger every time we choose alignment over approval.
In my own journey—from ghost to light—I’ve had to learn that not every opportunity is divine, not every voice deserves a seat at the table, and not every path is mine to walk. Discernment helped me reclaim my time, my energy, and my truth.
Devotional Reflection: “Test everything; hold fast what is good.” —1 Thessalonians 5:21 Ask yourself: What am I holding onto that no longer serves the person I’m becoming? What voices am I allowing to shape my decisions?
- Write down three recent decisions you made.
- For each, ask: Was this choice rooted in fear, pressure, or peace?
- What would discernment have said in that moment?
